Trade setup for Monday– Good morning and welcome to the morningĀ reports, the top things to know before the stock market opens today April 18, 2022.

The major Asian market indexes are trading in the red on Monday due to the surge in crude oil prices. Hang Seng is not trading today due to a public holiday. Nikkei and Shanghai are trading lower by 2.04 percent and 1.36 percent respectively. SGX Nifty is trading lower by 38 points or 0.22 percent at 17291 levels at 7.15 am IST. The indication getting from the Asian markets is negative today, Indian stock markets are likely to open lower today.

 

The US and European market Indexes update

 

The US stock market indexes closed lower on the last day of the holiday-shortened week, as the mixed corporate earnings and rising bond yields hit the market sentiments. The initial jobless claim also rose by 18000 to 185000 above market expectation. The US market indexes, Dow Jones and S&P 500 fell 0.33 percent and 1.21 percent respectively while the tech-heavy Nasdaq was down by 2.14 percent on Thursday.

European markets were closed higher on Thursday ahead of the long holiday due to the dovish European Central Bank (ECB) monetary policy. ECB holds the key rates unchanged but confirmed that it would end its bond-buying program during the third quarter. European markets will remain close on Monday to observe Easter Monday. European market Indexes CAC and DAX gained 0.72 percent and 0.62 percent respectively while FTSE was up by 0.47 percent on Thursday.

 

Indian stock market updates

 

Indian stock markets were closed lower on Wednesday, the last day of the holiday-shortened week. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty were down by 0.41 percent and 0.31 percent respectively. FIIs were the seller and DIIs were the buyers in the cash segment. FIIs sold Rs 2061.04 crore while DIIs bought Rs 1410.85 crore on Wednesday.

The current four-tire structure of GST i.e 5, 12, 18, and 28 percent may change soon, the decision will be taken in the next month’s GST meeting. As most states on board want to raise revenue so that they do not have to depend on the Centre for compensation. A proposal to do away with the 5 percent slab by moving mass consumption to 3 percent and the remaining 8 percent categories may consider in the next GST meeting.

According to the Reserve Bank of India data showed on Friday, that Indiaā€™s foreign exchange reserve fell for the fifth straight week. This is due to the RBIā€™s selling dollars continuously to prevent a sharp depreciation of the Indian rupee amid a surge in crude oil prices.
