Trade setup for Tuesday– Good morning and welcome to the morning reports, the top things to know before the stock market opens today May 10, 2022
Asian markets are trading in the deep red on Tuesday following negative cues from the US markets overnight. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading lower by 1.41 percent and 2.74 percent respectively while Shanghai is trading 0.43 percent down. SGX Nifty is trading lower by 139 points or 0.86 percent at 16152 levels.
The indications getting from the global markets are negative. Indian stock markets are likely to open a gap-down today. Nifty is expected to open below 16200 levels.
The US and European market Indexes update
A heavy sell-off was witnessed in the US markets on Monday, S&P 500 closed below the 4000 mark for the first time since late March 2021. Technology and Energy shares dragged the markets, and Nasdaq was down more than 4 percent on Monday. The US benchmark indexes closed at new lows for 2022. Dow Jones and S&P 500 declined 1.99 percent and 3.20 percent respectively on Monday.
European markets closed lower on Monday as investors are concerned about the economic growth and inflation. Investors are fretting that even though European Central Bank has not hiked rates since 2011, there is a high chance that the bank raise the rate in the July meeting. European market indexes FTSE and CAC declined 2.32 percent and 2.75 percent respectively while DAX was down by 2.15 percent on Monday.
Indian stock market updates
It was a negative start for the Indian stock market on the first day of the week amid weak global cues. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty closed lower by 0.67 percent each on Monday. FIIs were the sellers and DIIs were the buyers in the cash segment. FIIs sold Rs 3361.80 crore while DIIs bought Rs 3077.24 crore in the equity cash segment on Monday.

As per the various media report on Monday, the Indian government may consider 28 percent GST on cryptocurrencies. The rate is at par with the casino, batting, and lottery categories. The proposal is likely to discuss in the next GST meeting according to several media reports.
The Indian government has asked the central bank to either buy back government bonds or conduct open market operations to cool yields that have it their highest since 2019, as inflation risk pushes foreign investors to sell, according to the Reuters report on Monday.
Crude oil prices dipped 4 percent on Monday due to the continued covid lockdown in China. The surges in covid cases and lockdown in important cities including Shanghai negatively impacting in the oil markets. The Brent crude oil price on Tuesday morning is at $ 103.71 per barrel at 7.30 am IST.
