Trade setup for Tuesday– Good morning and welcome to the morning reports, the top things to know before the stock market opens today April 26, 2022
Asian markets are trading mostly in the green on Tuesday tracking positive cues from the US markets overnight. Nikkei and Hang Seng are trading higher by 0.47 percent and 0.45 percent respectively while Shanghai is trading lower by 0.99 percent at this moment at 7.30 am IST. SGX Nifty is trading higher by 91 points or 0.54 percent at 17086 levels. The indication getting from the Asian market is positive, the Indian stock market is likely to open higher today.
The US and European market Indexes update
The US markets erased their early losses and closed in the green after a volatile session on Monday as investors bet on the beaten-down technology and other growth stocks. Initially, the fears of a fresh covid-19 outbreak in China weighed on the market sentiments, and also dragged the oil prices. However, the rally of tech shares of which quarterly results are expected during the week supported the markets on Monday.
The US market indexes, Dow Jones and S&P 500 gained 0.70 percent and 0.57 percent respectively while the tech-heavy Nasdaq was up by 1.29 percent on Monday.
European market indexes fell sharply on Monday as investors were worried about an economic slowdown in China and rapid US interest rate hikes. Heavy sell-off was witnessed in China- exposed sectors such as miners, oil &gas, and luxury stocks as fear grew that Covid-19 infections are spreading to other areas and Beijing was on the verge of joining Shanghai in pandemic-related lockdowns
The European market indexes, FTSE and CAC fell 1.88 percent and 2.01 percent respectively while DAX was down by 1.54 percent on Monday.
Indian stock market updates
Indian stock markets started the week on a negative note. The benchmarked indices, Sensex and Nifty closed below their psychological levels on Monday. Sensex closed lower by 1.08 percent while Nifty was down by 1.27 percent respectively. FIIs were the sellers and DIIs were the buyers on Monday. FIIs sold Rs 3302.85 crore while DIIs bought Rs 1870.45 crore in the equity cash segment.

On Monday CII President TV Narendran said, India’s economy is expected to grow 7.5-8 percent in FY23 and export will play a key role to achieve the target. He further said that the country needs to remain prepared for any fallout of the next wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, but he is confident and optimistic on the export front.
On Monday, RBI governor Raghuram Rajan said that the central bank will have to raise the interest rates to tame inflation and the hikes need not be considered by politicians and bureaucrats as some anti-national activity. He has further said, inflation is above the RBI’s comfort zone, and at some point in time RBI will have to raise rates, like the rest of the world is doing.
