Trade setup for Wednesday– Good morning and welcome to the morning reports, the top things to know before the stock market opens today May 4, 2022
Asian markets are trading mixed on Wednesday, Nikkei and Shanghai are closed today due to a holiday. Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.81 percent at 7.20 am IST. The SGX Nifty is trading higher by 96 points or 0.57 percent at 17080 levels. The indication getting from the SGX Nifty is positive, Indian stock market indexes are likely to open in the green today.
The US and European market Indexes update
The US stock market indexes closed slightly higher on Tuesday as investors geared up for the Federal Reserve’s policy decision later today and evaluated the string of corporate results. The market indexes, Dow Jones and S&P 500 gained 0.20 percent and 0.48 percent respectively while the tech-heavy Nasdaq was up 0.22 percent on Tuesday.
European market indexes closed higher on Tuesday due to upbeat corporate earnings. While banking shares closed higher as government bond yields hit new highs in anticipation of quicker interest rate hikes global central banks to curb inflation. European market indexes CAC and DAX gained 0.79 percent and 0.72 percent respectively while FTSE was up by 0.22 percent on Tuesday.
Indian stock market updates
Indian stock markets erased most of their early losses on Monday and closed flat to the negative. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty fell 0.15 percent and 0.20 percent respectively. FIIs were the sellers and DIIs were the buyers in the equity cash segment. FIIs sold Rs 1853.46 crore while DIIs bought Rs 1951.10 crore in the equity cash segment on Monday

Top News- before the trade setup for Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
The trade data released by the commerce ministry on May 3, showed that the country’s merchandise export declined to $38.19 billion in April from $42.22 billion reported a month back. However, imports did not fall by the same magnitude, the imports stood at $58.26 billion in April as compared to $60.74 billion in March. As such, the merchandise trade deficit widened to $20.07 billion from $18.51 in April
The much-awaited LIC IPO is going to hit the Primary Market on 4 May and closes on 9 May 2022. The Government has fixed the IPO band at Rs 902- Rs 949 per share, Rs 60 discount to the policyholders, and a Rs 45 discount for LIC employees. Watch our Web Story about the LIC IPO here.
Investors will closely be watching the Federal Reserve interest rate decision on Wednesday and will focus on the commentary to get a clue on how high the central bank will raise interest rates beyond this year to curb inflation.
