US Markets LIVE, 27 July 2023: The US stock markets opened higher on Thursday, Dow Jones opened higher by 38.67 points at the 35558.79 level while S&P 500 made a positive opening of 31.51 points at the 4598.26 level. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite opened on a strong note at 14319.16 level, up by 191.88 points.

At 12.20 ET, Dow Jones extended its early gains and is trading higher for the 14th straight session, Dow Jones is up by 57.66 points or 0.16 percent at the 35577.78 level. S&P 500 is also trading higher by 25.17 points or 0.55 percent at 4591.92 levels. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite trimmed some of its early gains but is trading on a strong note, Nasdaq index is up by 155.38 points or 1.10 percent at 14282.66 levels.
US Market News
The US market sentiments are positive today, as the latest data show the US economy grew at 2.4% annually in the second quarter. The US GDP number came better than the 2% increase expected by economists. Investors cheer, as the GDP data indicates the US economy is stronger than expected and could easily avoid a recession.
The Nasdaq composite is trading on a strong note as Meta Platforms jumped over 7% after the Facebook owner reported better-than-expected results and strong guidance for the year. The company’s quarterly numbers were strengthened due to a rebound in advertisement revenue and this boosts other big tech stocks.
The online auction site eBay shares are down more than 8% after the company forecast disappointing third-quarter profit. Travel stocks are in focus today as the share price of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd jumped above 10% as the company raised its forecast for the full year’s profit.
Crude oil prices are trading near 14-week highs. The London-based crude oil- Brent is trading at its highest levels since April due to tight supply and higher demand. At present Brent crude is trading at $83.66 per barrel
