US Stock Markets Live Updates
US stock markets opened on a positive note on Monday. All three major indexes made an optimistic start ahead of crucial events lined up during the week. Dow Jones opened slightly higher by 3.1 points at the 35230.79 level while S&P 500 made a positive opening of 7.09 points at the 4543.39 level. The tech-heavy Nasdaq also opened higher by 48.82 points at the 14081.63 level.

The US market sentiments are positive despite the release of PMI survey flash data showing that private sector production slowed further in the month of July. Traders are looking ahead to the new set of corporate earnings and the Federal Reserves interest rate decisions this week
Big tech companies Alphabel, Meta, and Microsoft among others will be releasing their second quarterly earnings and full yearly forecast this week. The big event, however, is the Fed’s interest rate decision, though it is widely expected that Fed would hike the 25 bps interest rate, Powell’s conference will be important for further guidance.
The “Barbie” movie maker Mattel shares up 2% after the movie scored the biggest opening weekend box office draw of the year so far. The share price of AMC Entertainment surged around 30% after a judge on Friday ruled against the movie-theater chain’s plan to convert its preferred shares into regular stock.
Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Live Updates
At 12.20 EDT, Dow Jones extended its gains for the 11 consecutive day and is trading higher by 190.43 points or 0.54 percent at the 35418.12 level while S&P 500 is trading higher by 19.90 points or 0.44 percent at 4556.24 levels. The tech-heavy Nasdaq trimmed some early gains but is trading higher by 27.89 points or 0.20 percent at 14060.70 levels.
