Analysing Vodafone Idea Q3 Result and Share Price, 29 January 2024

Vodafone Idea Q3 Result: India’s third largest telecom operator, Vodafone Idea (Vi) announced its December end quarterly results on Monday, 29 January. The telecom operator reported a significant decline in net loss to Rs 6985.9 crore from Rs 7990 crore posted in the same period last year. The company reported a decline in quarterly loss in Q3FY24, as it added more 4G users.

The average revenue per user (ARPU) of the company rose 7.4% year-on-year to ₹145 during the period under review from ₹135 in Q3FY23. The telecom operator announced that it has achieved 4G subscriber growth and improved ARPU for the 10th consecutive quarter.

The company reported a marginal rise in revenue, which came in at Rs 10,673.1 crore, up 0.49 percent from Rs 10,621 crore in the third quarter of the previous financial year. The company said that the growth was supported by enhancements in the subscriber mix, the addition of 4G subscribers, and changes in the entry-level plan.

The Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) of the company improved 140 bps to 40.8 percent in the quarter compared to 39.4 percent in the previous year. EBITDA margin for the quarter was 40.8%. Vodafone Idea’s 4G subscriber base increased to 125.6 million from 121.6 million in Q3FY23. 

With high competition in the telecom sector, Kotak Institutional Equities anticipates that Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio will likely capture market share at the expense of Vi, particularly among premium subscribers. This expectation is driven by Vi’s financial constraints, prolonged delay in raising funds, and uncertainties in launching 5G.

 

 

The Vodafone Idea share price NSE closed at 14.65 ahead of the Q3 earnings. The share price gained 0.050 or 0.34% on Monday. The Vodafone idea share price gained more than 70% in the last six months, mainly due to the news of fundraising.
